BEAMS at The WorksJune 29, 2006 - 8 p.m. Together with The Works Festival of Art and Design, The Boreal Electroacoustic Music Society (BEAMS) will present an evening of electronic and experimental music in a cabaret setting at the Red Strap Market (10305-97 Street) Thursday, June 29 at 8 p.m. The show features new works by Wayne Defehr, Don Ross, Mark Nerenberg, Reinhard von Berg, the Agape Raygun Experiment and a special appearance by Gerry Morita and Theresa Dextrase from Mile Zero Dance. Through his work with audio/visual at a major hospital Wayne Defehr has recorded sounds of microscopic processes in the human body. He has amplified and mixed these sounds to the threshold of conscious hearing and will pair them with video using Isadore 1.1 software. Don Ross' set features clarinet, flute, electronics and live dance including Bill Damur's premiere of Thom Golub's Seven Scenes for Solo Flute, new works by Don Ross and Alex Eddington, and an ancient Japanese duet. A sax quartet will play Mark Nerenberg's piece which uses Max/MSP software to digitally process live sounds. Reinhard von Berg will improvise live on multiple keyboards. Phil Jagger and the Agape Raygun Experiment present the sound of impossible buildings, which uses live sound and video improvisation over amplifications of the sounds of the building itself. Admission is free. For more information, write info@beams.ca. Email info@beams.ca |
